    A highly regarded and established hedge fund is looking for a Tax Compliance Manager to join their team. This person will be covering tax compliance filing and reporting for two of their REIT funds. Responsibilities include workpaper preparation, reviewing state and federal tax returns, and responding to tax notices. The ideal candidate will come with REIT experience from a public and/or private firm.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and review income tax provisions (ASC 740, FAS 109) and related disclosures
    • Coordinate the release of 1099s and maintain a detailed tax
    • Provide daily monitoring of REIT tax compliance, including reviewing taxable income, and calendar tax characterization of dividends and the REIT income and asset tests
    • Prepare summary memos and research any federal and state tax issues
    • Responsible for daily monitoring of REIT compliance, including estimating current taxable income, assisting with forecasting taxable income, tax characterization of dividends and the REIT income and asset tests
    • Monitor FACTA compliance for all of the fund's entities
    • Respond to tax notices from federal and state tax authorities
    • Research federal and state tax issues and prepare summary memos

    Job Responsibilities:

    • 5-10 years of experience in federal/state tax and REIT compliance experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is a must and a Master's in Taxation is a big plus
    • Strong Excel skills are required and experience using SQL is preferred
