    Description

    We are in search of a skilled Auto Claims Field Appraiser

    The Auto Claims Field Appraiser will carry out specialized technical tasks involving the assessment of damage to create estimates, identify previous damage, and assess total losses.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assess damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage
    • Determine labor costs, assess parts utilization (i.e., OEM, Aftermarket, LKQ), and decide on repair or replacement feasibility based on automotive repair knowledge
    • Review photographs and obtain agreed price appraisals for all damaged property. Ensure all estimates adhere to company guidelines
    • Evaluate repair viability and consider contract repair versus declaring a vehicle a total loss
    • Identify unrelated prior damage estimates by analyzing the vehicle's physical attributes, areas of damage, and age of damage. Address any inconsistencies noticed during inspection or reported issues when interacting with vehicle owners
    • Calculate cost-related expenses versus owner maintenance costs (e.g., betterment, depreciation)
    • Contact owners of non-drivable damaged vehicles promptly upon assignment receipt (within 24 hours) to schedule property inspections within 48 hours or promptly
    • Submit completed appraisals through estimating software
    • Maintain a list of specialty shops and parts vendors for repairs
    • Approve repairs following current handling guidelines
    • Arrange relocation of salvage vehicles to appropriate disposal locations with owner consent
    • Handle assigned Drive-ins
    • Maintain estimate correction frequency of 5% or lower

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:

    • 3+ years of experience as an outside appraiser or in a related field
    • Ability to provide agreed price appraisals for all lines of business with necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
    • Possession of a valid driver's license and a functional vehicle
    • Proficiency in using computerized estimating systems

    Preferred:

    • College degree, technical training, or considerable work experience
    • Experience with online claims systems
    • Participation in continuing insurance education programs
