Hafsa Hussaini

Hello, I am a recent graduate from DePaul University in Chicago. I studied Computer Science and Software Development, and am hoping to steer my career in software engineering in a humanitarian direction. My favorite programming languages are python and Java. 

My first experience relevant to the field of computing was the position I was offered by one of my undergrad professors, it was the role of a Supplemental Instructor/Leader for a computer programming course he was teaching at Harper College. I held bi-weekly sessions in which I would teach the basics of programming logic, like data types, loops, lists, string manipulation, modular programming, and more. I shared examples of Python programs that I would write for students to learn from, and also help students with their programming assignments.

A couple of years into taking CS courses, I began an internship as a Software Engineer at CCCIS, a software company in Chicago that worked to estimate auto repair claims. There, I worked on both back-end and front-end technologies, such as connecting the database with the website, and designing some of the webpages. I primarily used SQL, Vue.js, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, and Java.

During my Senior year of undergrad, I was offered a Software Engineer position at Raytheon Missiles and Defense. I was excited, but also nervous because I had to relocate to Tucson, AZ from my hometown in Illinois. It has been a long journey getting my security clearance and adjusting to the new workplace, but I am grateful for this opportunity. Here, I work with linux/unix, c++, python, and adacode. 

I earned my B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Development from DePaul University this past June 2023.
