The NDSU Williston Research Extension Center conducts agricultural research to improve crop health and sustainability of our food production system in northwestern North Dakota.
The Plant Pathology program focuses on reducing plant disease via crop rotation, genetic resistance and fungicide selection in durum wheat, chickpeas, peas, and lentils.
The plant pathology research intern will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the research program which includes both outdoor field research on small crop plots and laboratory research.
The day-to-day activities of the position include maintaining the field plots in optimal conditions, collecting soil or plant samples, assisting with disease ratings, assisting with fungicide applications and conducting lab work such as media preparation, DNA extraction and fungal isolations.
Tasks may be specific to the individual hired and their existing skill set and capabilities. No prior experience in agriculture is required. Come join our team and learn how to grow foodResponsibilities of the Internship will include:
Compensation The internship will consist of 35+ hours per week and the compensation shall be negotiable at $15-$18 per hour.
Work Schedule:
Typical schedule is 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school student
At least 16 years of age
Valid driver's license or reliable transportation to work
Ability to work a full-time schedule in the summer
Preferred Qualifications:
College/University Student
Biology related degree program
Relevant work experience
