    The Financial Analyst is a business partner to the organization(s) they support. This role is responsible for compiling and analyzing financial information in support of multiple City departments and programs. Additionally, the role will be involved in the annual budget process and completion of the comprehensive City budget document.

    It is expected that the candidate can leverage financial techniques and analysis, information systems and tools, and critically think to validate financial information, prepare accurate forecasts, create and manage reports and dashboards, and provide informed and insightful recommendations to management.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Develops integrated financial analyses, forecasting and reporting.
    • Supports financial modeling and preparation of financial plans for strategic planning and annual operating budget.
    • Supports generation of monthly departmental dashboards including detailed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provides insightful budget variance analysis.
    • Acts as back-up administrator of the Adaptive Insights budget and reporting application.
    • Identifies trends and opportunities to either improve processes or financial performance.
    • Develops successful working relationships with budget coordinators and staff across City departments.
    • Supports preparation of presentations to management and City Council.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


    • Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Governmental Accounting Standards, and fund accounting.
    • Possess a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to gain understanding and find solutions to problems.
    • Knowledge of governmental budgeting, strategic planning, and general ledger accounting, payroll and other financial processes.
    • High proficiency in the use of computers, financial software applications, and Microsoft Office application programs including Excel, Power Point, Word and Access.
    • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively to determine proper courses of action.
    • Excellent customer service skills in the areas of communication, problem analysis' and interpersonal relations.
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills to interact with individuals both within and outside the organization.
    • Ability to demonstrate those strong communication skills communicating with technical and non-technical management, coworkers, and users.
    • Organize work and manage assignments efficiently and handle all assigned responsibilities with professional care and competency.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
    Technology Skills


    • Experience with Workday, Adaptive Insights or other budgeting and reporting applications and ERP systems.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with extensive experience with complex formulas and analysis.
    Education and Experience

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field. MBA preferred.

    Experience:
    Three or more years of experience in budgeting and financial planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    LIGHT WORK:

    Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

    If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work

    Office settings

    Physical Requirements – No Physical Needed
    Lift, carry, push, pull, move, or positions from all levels up to 30 lbs. with or without assistance
    Pay Range
    $77,875.20-$101,212.80
    Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions.
