- Implement, conduct, and continuously improve SHS education, knowledge, and performance at branches within the assigned geographic area, including, Smith System defensive driving training, weekly SHS training, annual internal audits, incident investigations and reporting, field level behavior-based worker observations and coaching (BBO's), and other tasks as requested by supervisor.
- Support Area operations and office personnel in implementing and complying with SHS programs.
- Establish regular visit schedules for all branches in the assigned geographic area.
- Conduct annual internal SHS audits and ensure follow up and corrective actions are completed.
- Assist Badger Occupational Health and Leave team in worker illness, injury, first aid, worker compensation claims, return to work and other applicable employee health matter as requested.
- Assist in incident and accident investigations, both internal and external, including root cause analysis, preparation of reports; incident summaries and management follow up.
- Prepare weekly activity report and other reports as requested by supervisor or Corporate SHS management.
- Work with Badger operations management, sales and marketing and business development as needed in providing HSE support and presence with current and potential clients.
- 5+ years' hands on field operations experience preferred in the following Industries: Vacuum; Pump Trucks, Construction, Utilities, Oil and Gas, Waste Collection, Equipment Rentals.
- Relevant university degree and/or college diploma.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) - or in the process of obtaining same.
- Knowledge of federal, state, local and provincial health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, and training skills.
- Excellent people skills including communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe PDF software.
- High level of integrity and honesty.

- Preferred Position Location: Charlotte, North Carolina. Other close geographical areas may be considered.
- Travel: The position is required to travel approximately 50-65% of the time - across the assigned region. A vehicle will be provided. Working hours may vary on occasion e.g. attending safety meetings at 5:30 am.
- Will be required to successfully complete background checks which may include references, criminal background check, credit check, education, training, clean driver's abstract review, and drug and alcohol testing.
