- Plans, organizes and manages operations and activities of college wide, or department- specific, EHS programs for employees (and students if applicable).
- Assists in evaluating third party service providers and assess the effectiveness, quality and impact on the college's internal/external human assets. Manages and assists in negotiating costs related to various submitted fee schedules and other corresponding service charges. Monitors appropriate budgetary resources and funding streams to help ensure adequate rendered services as well as meeting stakeholder expectations.
- Develop project plans and timelines to assist in execution of strategic and operational goals as set by the Executive Director of EHS. This will involve leading two EHS Professionals via project planning and management, obtaining status updates, and ensuring personnel remain on target with project deadlines and with the appropriate resources needed.
- Assists with researching, advising and implementation of infectious disease control measures for employees/students in high-risk areas to reduce adverse incident occurrences while also ensuring compliance to applicable statutes and regulatory standards. In relation to matters concerning COVID and other communal pathogens, participates in contact tracing and acts as the official health promotions adviser. Under the authority of the Executive Director of EHS, provides oversight and management of the processes concerning various mandated reporting requirements to regulatory agencies such as the North Carolina Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.
- Assists in establishing external and internal relationships that will support the delivery of successful health and safety surveillance and training programs to help ensure positive outcomes for faculty and staff thus cultivating increased wellbeing and occupational productivity.
- Under authority of the Executive Director of EHS, provides oversight and management of the processes concerning various mandated reporting requirements to regulatory agencies such as the North Carolina Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.
- In the event the Executive Director of Environmental Health and Safety is unavailable or otherwise predisposed, the Project Manager will act as the primary authority with jurisdiction/secondary back-up and subject matter expert pertaining to environmental, occupational safety/health and fire/life affairs. For example, serves as a back-up liaison for the college in regards to explaining occupational health and safety matters to employees, students, visitors, etc. Works with outside agencies such as OSHA, NC Department of Labor, EPA, local fire departments, local and state health departments, contracted medical providers, etc.
- Facilitates employee training on a college wide scale and maintain on-line instructional opportunities, ensuring the material is up to date and relevant. When necessary, enlists third party co-facilitators to extend training services and provide hands-on learning opportunities.
- In compliance with the Occupational Safety/Health Administration Act Recordkeeping standard, manages the input and updating of the annual OSHA 300 Injury/Illness Log and all supporting documentation.
- Conducts ergonomic assessments to assist employees; prepares accurate detailed reports outlining potential problems while making corrective recommendations to prevent possible musculoskeletal disorders and reduce workers' compensation claims.
- Is able to contribute to, follow, and execute strategic direction/plans as set by the Executive Director.

- CPR and Basic First Aid Certification; if not currently certified, must be obtained within 90 days of employment

The Environmental Health & Safety Project Manager aids the Executive Director of EHS as a secondary point of contact for environmental, health and safety related matters that directly impact the various Central Piedmont campuses as well as the surrounding community.
This position serves as the backup to the Executive Director of Environmental Health and Safety. This position will also assist with interpretation of OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements. The EHS Project Manager will perform all duties of EHS Professional as needed.Must have a thorough understanding of pertinent subject matter such as OSHA, EPA, Local Fire Code, and communicable disease prevention or infectious disease control.
