    Description

    Position Description:

    Research Technologist I

    Purpose

    Under general supervision provide support for department research through projects, maintenance and communication of data, and execution of laboratory experiments.

    Primary Functions

    • Perform daily maintenance of our animal colony – animal husbandry, health checks
    • Perform animal procedures including gavage, blood collection, and drug treatments.
    • Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.
    • Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
    • Carry out assigned duties for ordering and maintaining supply of inventories.
    • Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research.

    Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

    Knowledge of biology, mathematics, documentation, and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

    Preferred Schedule:

    8-4:30

    Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

    Minimum Required Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree

    Minimum Required Experience: Experience working with animals

    Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
