    Description

    Our client is a well established and successful building materials company with an immediate opening for a Senior Staff Accountant at its headquarters in Cold Springs, Minnesota. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will provide financial information by analyzing and recording financial data, prepares journal entries, and assist with preparation of financial reporting requirements.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Documents and prepares financial account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
    • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; prepares financial and operational schedules to support the Accounting Manager in monthly and year-end closing responsibilities.
    • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures for Accounting Manager's consideration.
    • Reconciles ledger accounts. Review data integrity reports and corrects posting issues. Prepares recurring and manual general ledger entries thru analysis of data and determination of appropriate account balances.
    • Calculates and monitors financial exposures ensuring adequate accrual coverage.
    • Supports project accounting by conducting reviews of job activity and postings to ensure integrity of revenue recognition cycle. Assists in correction of errors.
    • Supports General Accountant and AP processes by answering questions and providing guidance related to sales and use tax liability determination.
    • Assists Accounting Manager with any financial audits. Assists with preparation of support schedules, data preparation, and other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
    • Supports annual tax filing through preparation of supporting schedules for the provision.
    • Supports value stream managers through periodic meetings to discuss financial results and key metrics.
    • Identifies trends and determines system improvements and implements change. A promoter of the Lean Management System (LMS).
    • Protects organization value by keeping information confidential.
    • Other general accounting or special projects as assigned by Accounting Manager, Corporate Controller, or CFO.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field
    • 3+ years accounting experience in a manufacturing related industry; Public Accounting background a plus
    • Excellent experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
