    At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

    Pay Range: $78, $130,000.00

    Job Profile Summary:

    The Marketing Manager will have a proven track record in developing and executing marketing, database mining and segmentation, and/or marketing automation. The Marketing Manager is a strategic thinker and a results-driven, data-minded, detail-oriented, highly organized team player who can work in a problem-solving environment. Marketing Manager will have experience leading and developing a team.

    As a member of our Marketing Leadership team, you will be responsible for helping develop, implement, and track WGU marketing initiatives and other programs. You will also be responsible for the effective management and delivery of marketing campaigns, communications, and public outreach plans by managing projects through the full marketing lifecycle. As someone excited by creating structure from ambiguity, you will use your experience in digital marketing and strategic planning to develop and execute multi-channel engagement plans. Your passion for data will help you monitor performance, evaluate ROI, and identify trends in order to make informed decisions around optimizing conversion. This role has accountably to lead a small marketing team.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • In combination with the Senior Marketing Manager, help identify and develop the strategy of the assigned marketing program, including messaging, audience segmentation, timing, flow, and database segmentation.
    • Day-to-day Operations. Manage day-to-day operations, which may include the production of complex campaigns such as creation, setup, segmentation, scheduling, and tracking.
    • Campaign Planning and Development. Help implement and execute integrated marketing campaigns for program managers, WGU state affiliates, alumni, and other constituents across WGU.
    • Creative Development. Develop and execute marketing plans while working with a team of writers and designers to develop message direction and marketing collateral.
    • Oversee marketing performance and trends.
    • Develop and create email test strategies to refine email communication performance, including content, images, colors, messages, subject lines, etc.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams at WGU to execute marketing campaigns.
    • Develop and lead a functional team delivering results in a team-oriented environment
    • Manages employee performance and provides frequent coaching and performance feedback, addressing performance issues in a timely and constructive manner.
    • Supports employee engagement and performance recognition programs.
    • Holds direct reports accountable for assigned projects and areas of responsibility.
    • Participates in department and area staffing activities, including candidate interviewing and selection.
    • Develops and executes marketing and communication plans to develop message direction and marketing collateral.
    • Performs thorough research and analysis to ensure the most effective solutions and methods are employed.
    • Clearly communicates constraints, conflicts, requirements, compatibility issues, and items that could affect project outcome, final performance level, or customer satisfaction. Offers appropriate alternatives and contingency plans.
    • Monitors pertinent vending contracts and manages project budgets. Approves pay requests and change orders. Maintains relationships with vendors.
    • Identifies and launches campaigns and marketing programs based on current business issues or strategies.
    • Stays updated on all trends regarding new technologies and applications on the market.
    • Manages all print, web, and overall social media communication strategies.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    • Ability to design flexibility into their plans by creating some benchmark actions into review progress.
    • Skill and ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and autonomy.
    • Effective communication skills with high regard for customer service and capable of adapting your approach towards different situations and stakeholders.
    • Strong collateral design and development skills.
    • Ability to develop and implement processes and procedures.
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to coordinate strategic priorities, projects, and initiatives for the team.
    • Ability to be productive in an open-space environment.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated and effective skills in storytelling, writing, and editing.
    • Familiar with email marketing tools such as Mailchimp or similar.
    • Ability to lead, build and coach high performing teams within a business and ensure projects, initiatives or other work functions are performed successfully.
    • Ability to increase employee engagement, support a positive environment and help remove obstacles for team members.
    • Ability to make decisions quickly to help move projects and increase efficiency.
    • Experience building strong relationships with direct reports and creating resilient teams that can work through difficulties that may arise.
    • Ability to effectively teach colleagues and direct reports to grow in their careers to help the organization scale.

    • Manages/Supervises a team of professionals. Manages the work of assigned employees and/or supervisors who generally exercise some latitude and independence in their assignments. Ensures proper training of team members, and participates in hiring, firing, and promotion decisions. Conducts performance reviews and may recommend salary reviews.
    • May complete assignments that are technical in manner in addition to supervising others.

    Job Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degreein Marketing
    • 3+ years of experience in marketing campaign planning and execution.
    • 5+ years of experience in a dedicated marketing role
    • 3+ years of Supervisory Experience
    • Has advanced level knowledge and skills within Marketing with an understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the University.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
