    The FSAP History Teacher position is a stipend role for the month of July 2024.

    • Duration: July 1-July 31, 2024
    • Reports to: Director of Fieldston Summer Academic Program
    • Stipend amount: $5,000

    The Fieldston Summer Academic Program (FSAP) offers individualized instruction in Mathematics, Science, History, and English Language Arts to students entering 9th and 10th grades. Whether the student is at the top of his, her, or their class or has room to improve, FSAP provides an informative, yet fun learning environment for students preparing for the upcoming school year. Small group settings are designed to help students strengthen skills and expand knowledge. Students will gain insight on how to best navigate and access the resources available to them in the upper school from experienced mentors who are 11th and 12th graders and recent graduates. Most mentors are alums of the FSAP program.

    All of the instructors are members of Fieldston's talented faculty devoted to helping students succeed. In addition to the academic portion of the program, there will be three exciting weekly field trips or field days around the city.

    Position Summary
    The Ethical Culture Fieldston School is seeking a History Teacher for the Fieldston Summer Academic Program. The History Teacher should currently be employed or formerly have been employed as Upper School faculty. This person would also need to be available for the entire duration of the summer session and attend required curriculum and program planning meetings in the spring.

    Specific responsibilities of the role will include the following:

    • Teach the History component of FSAP;
    • Build upon the current FSAP curriculum (in anticipation of the 9th and 10th History curriculum) in collaboration with the English teacher;
    • Attend curricular planning sessions in April and May before the program begins;
    • Attend all days of the FSAP program and brief post dismissal day staff meetings during the program;
    • Communicate regularly with their supervisor and sometimes other teachers and FSAP Mentor;
    • Chaperone Field Day/Program Trips;
    • Keep a record of student progress, attendance, activity, behavior, and injuries/accidents;
    • Submit a short record evaluation of student progress by the end of the program;
    • Participate in all FSAP activities;
    • Provide quality supervision in cohort with teachers and supervisor;
    • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
