The Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, City University of New York is seeking applicants for a full-time academic program specialist to help students pursuing tech careers.

The largest accredited collegiate school of business in the United States, Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business has earned a national and international reputation for excellence.

It offers nationally ranked undergraduate, part-time, and full-time MBA programs, specialized masters, and doctoral programs. The Paul H.

Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics offers undergraduate majors and minors in Information Systems (IS) and Statistics and Quantitative Modeling (SQM).

It also offers four specialized MS degrees in IS, Business Analytics, Statistics, and Quantitative Methods & Modeling. It also provides courses for our MBA program.

Baruch College seeks an Academic Student Support Program Specialist who reports to the Chair of Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics.

In addition to the department, you will work with the Starr Career Center and other relevant stakeholders to help Baruch College develop the tech career pipeline.


The Academic Student Support Program Specialist will:

  • Identify and enroll a cohort of CUNY 2xTech students from the Paul Chook Department of IS and Statistics for academic and career advisement.
  • Meet with student cohort at least once a semester.
  • Support the Technology Leadership Development Program (TLDP) operationsat Baruch.
  • Synchronize cohort activities to maximize synergy with the extant TLDP program.
  • Provide academic and college success advice; skill improvement, college readiness, and survival strategies; general guidance, coaching, mentoring, and career exploration support.
  • Conduct a mix of 1:1 and group coaching sessions for students to explain the department's offerings and map it to industry needs and their career interests.
  • Help students craft effective resumes, portfolios, and LinkedIn and GitHub profiles tailored to tech positions.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze student/program data as prescribed by the Department of IS and Statistics and the Starr Career Center.
  • Monitor, evaluate, document, and report on students' academic participation and progress.
  • Assist with evaluating goals and develop measurement criteria to perform student learning outcomes assessments and create utilization reports.
  • Assist with student engagement events.
  • Advocate for students, intervene with appropriate program support services and referrals to faculty, campus learning resources, and/or University student development services.
  • Coordinate regular team meetings with faculty, academic and administrative staff, and actively participate in campus and University meetings and training activities.
  • Other relevant activities assigned by the Chair of the department

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Technology related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with studentfacing
    CRM systems such as Navigate360
  • Strong coaching and interpersonal skills and experience in career advising, career counseling, or human resources (specifically performing college relations function).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation of workshops.
  • Experience in program and project development and implementation.
  • Familiarity with career, employment, and hiring trends, especially within the tech sector.
  • Strong timemanagement skills.
  • Expertise in software such as word processing and spreadsheets is essential. Familiarity with Qualtrics is a plus.
  • The position requires high energy and commitment to working with college students, faculty, & staff.
