    Description

    **Service Center Manager-Transportation/Trucking**

    **Department:** Operations **Location:** Syracuse, NY

    **Position Summary:**

    As a member of the Operations Team, the **Service Center Manager** plays a key role in managing all aspects of the operation to meet the needs of our customers who enjoy Next Day LTL Service throughout New England and New York State. S/he work directly with senior management and sales to achieve on time and damage free service along with revenue and yield goals set forth as part of the corporate growth strategy.

    **What Youll Do:**

    Embrace, promote, and enforce a Safety culture

    Act with Integrity and professionalism to create positive and productive working relationships

    Supervise all employees reporting to the Service Center, including tracking and auditing employees hours, handling payroll issues and personnel changes, administering corrective action and monitoring the coaching, training and development of staff

    Plan the daily driver and equipment needs through efficient load planning, dispatching, and managing available capacity

    Provide clear and frequent information to all employees about Service Center productivity and company policies and procedures

    Analyze, monitor and implement all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies; maintain clean and safe working conditions of the facility and equipment

    Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as all company policies/procedures

    Route proper documentation and oversee procedure control for hazardous material shipments Identify opportunities for improvement and execute action plans to increase efficiencies

    Ability to manage a facility within budget, coordinate a fleet maintenance program and keep area of work professional and clean

    **Must Haves:**

    5 years of management experience in the freight transportation industry preferred.

    High School, Associates or Bachelors degree; 4 years of related work experience or equivalent military experience

    Have strong leadership and analytical skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and assist employees in achieving personal growth goals

    Capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment

    Availability to work a variety of shifts; days, evenings, nights and weekends; travel as needed

    Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work with excellent organizational skills

    Thorough knowledge of and experience with the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, transportation rules and regulations, OSHA standards, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC and Tariff rules, and company policies and procedures

    Walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled

    Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
