PART-TIME VAN DRIVER

$17.00 to $20.00 PER HOUR (BASED UPON EXPERIENCE)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide safe and reliable door-to-door transportation service for elderly clients, special education needs, and/or disabled school-aged children to and from their destinations using a company issued vehicle.

• Provide passengers with easy entry and exit at pickup and dropoff locations.
• Must follow proper procedures when operating the wheelchair lift and assisting disabled passengers in the loading and unloading process.
• Enforce appropriate conduct and safety rules in the vehicle.
• Ensure all passengers have properly departed the vehicle during each route.
• Safely and efficiently utilize vehicle equipment (i.e., wheelchair lifts, emergency equipment, etc.)
• Comply with all local traffic laws and regulations. Evaluate and maintain proper speeds and distances according to road conditions.
• Immediately report any delays, accidents, or incidents per company policy.
• Complete incident/accident reports when necessary.
• Perform daily pretrip and posttrip inspections on assigned vehicle(s) per state regulations.
• Always maintain a neat and professional personal appearance.
• Always maintain a clean vehicle and promptly report any mechanical issues to the designated supervisor.
• Maintain a highlevel of professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with clients, parents, and school staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Possess a valid Illinois driver's license for three continuous years with no suspensions, cancellations, or revocations; No CDL needed.
• Have a clean driving record.
• Must obtain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Must pass a criminal background check and DOT physical exam with preemployment drug screening.
• Must successfully complete and pass the Illinois school bus training along with other required training to remain qualified.
• Must be physically capable of operating a passenger vehicle (van/bus).
• Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
• At least 1 year of experience driving elderly and schoolaged children is required.
• First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
