    Program Manager, Workforce Education - Youngstown, United States - Youngstown State University

    The IT Program Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering educational programs for the Division of Workforce Education and Innovation's IT Workforce Accelerator.


    Provides curriculum design, delivery and program administration for a variety of general IT-related subjects, including programming, network administration, and database management.

    The Program Manager will create lesson plans, instruct students through classroom, online and hybrid learning. Program Manager will engage with external stakeholders (community partners, training partners, companies, etc) to develop customized training programs.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
    Develops IT workforce educations programs and initiatives for students, companies and other external stakeholders. Works closely with divisional staff to coordinate marketing, business development and other administrative needs.

    Performs the role of lead instructor during scheduled class times, including lesson preparation, lecture delivery, student assessment and advising .

    Teaches basic computer fundamentals, networking, and programming basics.
    Obtains, organizes, or develops training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
    Identifies the educational needs of others, develops formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaches and/or instructs others. Teaches classes as needed in various IT subjects.
    Monitors and assesses performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

    Develops programs mentorship programs or similar to support program retention and completion.
    Assists with curriculum development for new relevant in-demand areas in the IT industry.

    Works with industry partners in developing and implementing industry credential programs.
    Plans and designs hands-on training activities which contribute to the students' comprehension of course content.


    Present information with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.

    Observes trainees to ensure their comprehension of the subject matter. Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance.

    Other Functions and Responsibilities:
    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Equipment Operated:
    Computer and all other standard office equipment.

    Work Schedule:
    Ability to work a flexible schedule including first and second shift. Ability to work weekends.

    Ability to work both in person at the IT Workforce Accelerator at Silvesti Hall and additional divisional training centers, and online through the YSU Skills Accelerator and Blackboard Learn.


    Supervision Exercised:
    Supervision is exercised over staff and students.

    Reports to:
    Director, Workforce Education Programs

    Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:


    Willingness to become an AWS and Cisco Certified Instructor; willingness to become a Certified Instructor in any related area of need.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    A bachelor's degree and five years of related experience. Experience with

    at least three of the following: Cisco, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Python, AWS.

    Prior experience teaching IT courses at the corporate, college, or vocational level.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Master or bachelor's degree in education. Minimum one certification in related area, programming, networking, databases.

    Certification in specific technology such as Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, or Linux.
