- Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.
- MRO buyer oversees setup of equipment or systems to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Negotiates contracts, improves prices and terms of business with suppliers, and reviews opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Expedites and coordinates critical deliveries, emergency requisitions, and quotes to ensure on-time delivery metrics are met. Contacts suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues in a timely manner.
- Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased to maintain quality and necessity of products.
- Maintains indirect supplies, including tooling, chemicals, oils, abrasives, PPE and tooling vending suppliers.
- Manages utility providers and takes advantage hedging opportunities where applicable.
- Prepares reports and updates as required, such as spend analysis and supplier analytics to ensure effective decision-making.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
- Meets on-site and other attendance requirements, including any off-schedule hours as required, to meet the needs of the business.
- 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with low volume/high turnover with degree, or 7 years of related experience without a degree
- Experience with procuring indirect materials and machine tooling is required.
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related discipline preferred
- Highly functional computer skills with proven knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and MS Office products

- Strong analytical skills and a bias toward acting on fact-based analysis
- Ability to sit and utilize a computer for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around an office and industrial environment for up to 8 hours a day
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an infrequent basis
- Ability to bend, kneel, and climb on an infrequent basis in an office and industrial setting to evaluate facility and equipment/products/materials.
- Ability to hear, speak, read, and understand English effectively to communicate with other employees, agencies, and vendors. Additional language skills may be required dependent upon location served.
- Ability to perform activities related to travel (for example: driving, flying on airplanes, moving throughout airports) on an infrequent basis.
