- Partner with internal clients to prepare certain agreements and flag issues for attorney review when needed.
- Communicate the advice of the Legal department to businesses to manage legal risks.
- Manage contract workflow and approval process, including verifying that internal requirements are met, monitoring status, securing signatures, etc.
- Draft, review, analyze and negotiate standard contracts (e., non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, clinical trial agreements, services agreements, work orders under master services agreements, license agreements, etc.)
- Use the online contract management system and act as first point of contact for user questions, and for managing and retrieving contracts.
- Own standard contract templates and maintain and recommend updates as needed.
- Work with the attorneys on special projects.
- Draft and maintain correspondence and diligence materials.
- Liaise with outside counsel re U.S. and foreign patent drafting and filing requirements.
- File US and foreign patent applications.
- Ensure accurate docketing of U.S. and foreign patent deadlines.
- Generate patent reports.
- BA/BS degree Paralegal certificate with 10+ years of experience as a paralegal with diverse complex transactional and Intellectual property experience
- Admission to the USPTO patent bar
- Experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability appropriately prioritize competing demands.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team to ensure timely and accurate provision of legal services across the company.
- Excellent abilities with relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and DocuSign)
- Proficient in use of contract management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and collaborate with businesspersons as well as internal and external lawyers, other paralegals, and support personnel.
- Provide a wide variety of organizational, investigative, administrative, and analytical support and assistance to the Legal Department
- Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Experience supporting Clinical Trial Operations matters is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 onsite days a week.

Our three product candidates are (i) SP mg, dexamethasone sodium phosphate viscous gel) ("SEMDEXATM"), a Phase 3, novel, viscous gel formulation of a widely used corticosteroid for epidural injections to treat lumbosacral radicular pain, or sciatica and has received Fast Track Status from the FDA.
Currently there is no FDA approved non-opioid epidural injection to treat lumbosacral radicular pain, or sciatica; (ii) SP-103 (lidocaine topical system) 5.4%, ("SP-103"), a Phase 2, next-generation, triple-strength formulation of ZTlido, for the treatment of low back pain ("LBP") and has received Fast Track Status from the FDA; and (iii) SP mg, low-dose naltrexone hydrochloride delayed-release capsules) ("SP-104"), a novel low-dose delayed-release naltrexone hydrochloride being developed for the treatment of fibromyalgia.

Roles and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated Paralegal to join our Legal team at Scilex.
This individual will provide professional legal support services in connection with generating, processing, drafting, finalizing and administering contracts and other legal documents.
This individual will be expected to oversee a high volume of contracts that are received daily by the Legal Department and to collaborate with the Legal team and a variety of departments within our organization to ensure the contracts are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with our policies.
