- Successfully execute environmental permitting and compliance projects while meeting cost, schedule, safety, and quality objectives
- Assist with projects involving SPCC, stormwater, NPDES, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, EMS, air quality and other environmental regulatory compliance services including regulatory research, compliance planning and auditing, creating spreadsheets, and compiling and writing reports and other documents.
- Conducting environmental compliance audits
- Provide recommendations and develop innovative solutions to compliance issues.
- Conduct environmental due diligence assessments (Phase I and II)
- Conduct health and safety assessments.
- Support business development efforts, including preparation of technical and cost proposals, to grow our environmental compliance work with existing and new clients.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients to enhance client retention and growth.
- Regular travel is required to client sites as necessary.
- BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant environmental discipline.
- 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education directly related to environmental multi-media environmental regulatory compliance.
- Valid US Driver's License and pre-employment driving record verification is required.
- Travel is required in and around the state of California and the region (up to 25%/month)
- Certified as a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP), Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD), Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), and/or a Certified Erosion, Sediment and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) is a plus.
- Ability to act independently on technical matters pertaining to environmental regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of California and Federal environmental regulations and experience with local state, county, and city agencies in California
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our Orange, California team.
The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of engineers and scientists that are responsible for EHS compliance, reporting, permitting, due diligence, safety compliance and environmental field sampling/monitoring in California for a variety of federal, municipal, and private-sector clients.
Typical compliance projects include, but are not limited to, conducting audits and implementing corrective actions, providing training, developing plans and programs, and preparing permit applications and maintaining compliance with permits.
The successful candidate will be responsible for utilizing his or her environmental technical compliance experience to help our clients navigate their environmental compliance challenges.
Ultimately, the successful candidate must be able to maintain and develop client relationships; manage environmental compliance tasks; and work effectively in a team environment.
