    Job Summary:

The Hub Lead Engineer will work with a group of cross-functional, passionate leaders within Estes' technology hubs to ensure that we are evolving every day. The Hub Lead Engineer will play a crucial role in mentoring and leading teams of software engineers on development practices, building high-quality, secure software, application design patterns, and modern development tools. This role will be an integral part of the hub leadership team, mentoring engineers and partnering across the organization to ensure delivery of best-in-class technology solutions to the organization's most challenging business problems.

    • Technical Leadership: Mentor, coach, and lead software engineering teams to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
    • Technical Innovation: Building on a culture of continuous improvement and learning, drive technical learning to enhance the organization's technological capabilities. Encourage a hypothesis-driven, try-and-learn approach to engineering fostering a growth mindset in our engineering team members. Evaluate and recommend new development tools, frameworks, and methodologies in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and Developer Experience teams to improve efficiency, security, and quality of software engineering processes.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other Lead Engineers, Software Engineering teams and Developer Experience teams to ensure a seamless development process. Partner to develop and evolve engineering standards to improve engineering quality, security, and efficiency of the engineering teams. Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and provide insights into the technical aspects of project planning and execution.
    • Code Quality and Security Assurance: Implement and enforce coding standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable code. Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback to development teams.
    • Development Practices: Collaborate with multiple teams to define and champion best practices for software development, including version control, continuous integration, and deployment processes. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement process improvements. Ensure proper maintenance of applications is taking place.
    • Application Design Oversight: Provide leadership in the design of software applications, ensuring alignment with application, solution and enterprise architecture standards, business goals, and scalability requirements. Collaborate with project teams to review and approve technical designs, providing guidance on optimal implementation approaches.
    • Regular attendance is required.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background required. Master's Degree preferred
    • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on application design required
    • 4+ years of experience with one or more of the following: JavaScript, Java, API's, Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, Python required
    • 2+ years of experience leading software engineering teams within agile development and frameworks required
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills at leadership, peer, and team level required
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with problem-solving and hands-on technical contributions in highly collaborative environments required
    • Ability to stay abreast of new trends in security, automation, testing, CI/CD, and coding practices and champion them within the team
    • 8+ years of experience with more than one of following: JavaScript, Java, Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, XML, JSON, Python
    • 5+ years of experience in open-source frameworks (i.e. Spring Boot, Bootstrap, Angular, React, )
    • 4+ years of experience in Rest API development and technologies (i.e. Confluent Kafka, KSQL, Kong, JSON, Swagger)
    • 3+ years of experience in stateless design and containerization (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes)
    • 5+ years of experience in Relational and NoSQL databases (i.e. SQL Server, Mongo)
    • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
    • Must be able to interact well with others
    • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
    • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
    • Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
