    POSITION SUMMARY:


    The Human Resources Technician serves as the first point of contact, in person and by phone, to a wide range of constituencies that visit or call the HR department. This position is responsible for general HR department support, including but not limited to assisting with the development of adjunct teaching contracts, performing data entry, managing HR's online presence internally and externally, providing recruitment support, maintaining applicant tracking database, and assisting with payroll-related tasks.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide administrative support to the HR department.
    • Complete requested employment verifications.
    • Maintain filing system for Form I-9s (keep current and terminated forms in separate locations).
    • Administer records retention practices for HR.
    • Process check requests and purchase requisitions as needed.
    • Deliver, pickup and distribute department mail.
    • Maintain inventory of office supplies.
    • Create and update organizational charts.
    • Assist faculty and staff with questions and password resets regarding Employee Self Service/Manager Self Service system of the HRIS.
    • Support staff and faculty recruitment efforts and provide student and adjunct hiring support.
    • Responsible for accuracy of payroll-related tasks and adhering to payroll deadlines.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to identify priorities and communicate with team members if assistance is needed.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to exercise a moderate degree of independent judgment.
    • Computer and software skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Proficient keyboarding skills

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of related experience, or an Associate's degree and at least four (4) years of related experience.
    • Customer service experience.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of academic life.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Human Resources and/or payroll experience.
    • Certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to work in an office environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
