    We are seeking a qualified, Student Support Coordinator (SSC) with a commitment to supporting our students, parents, families, and school community @ Pioneer Academy (Q307) in Corona. The Community School model seeks to improve students' educational outcomes through holistic support and the development of data-driven initiatives in the areas of mental health, expanded learning time, family engagement, and attendance improvement. The SSC will be an integral member of a school-based team consisting of a Community School Director, Parent Coordinator, Principal, Assistant Principal(s), QCH staff, School Counselors, and Teachers.

    The primary objectives of this role are to:

    • Provide direct support and intervention with students in grades K-5 at Pioneer Academy to meet scholars' behavioral, social, and emotional needs and facilitate their successful participation in school and the after-school program. Maintain a caseload of students who receive regular individual or group counseling.
    • Provide case management, coordination, referrals, and service planning for families at Pioneer Academy as approved by the Director of Counseling Services and in collaboration with the Community School Director and other Pioneer Academy leadership.
    • Provide feedback, coaching, and modeling for staff in the After-School Program on techniques and approaches to effectively engage students, especially when students are distraught, dysregulated, or agitated, but not limited to such instances. This work should include both proactive engagement with After-School staff as well as reactive intervention as needed.
    • Identify additional programming needed and/or desired in the school day and the After-School program, and contribute toward program enhancement in collaboration with the Community School team. This may include developing and facilitating school and/or after-school staff training to support staff skill building and understanding of student needs, facilitating SEL curriculum with groups of scholars, or collaborating on other program content to meet the developmental, behavioral, and social needs of students during the school day or in the After-School program.
    • Identifying and building relationships with external service providers to support the health, developmental, behavioral, and psychological needs of youth and families to support their success in school and the after-school program.
    • Contributing to the development of systems and processes related to student support needed for the success of the After-School Program at Pioneer Academy, improved daily student attendance at school, and to meet family needs in collaboration with the Community School Team.
    • Collaborate with the QCH Community School Director and Community School Team to provide quarterly family and community engagement activities.
    • Maintain timely and accurate records of all counseling activities and any incidents with scholars. Follow all reporting requirements as outlined by QCH.
    • Engage in regular clinical and programmatic supervision with the QCH supervisor as well as external training as assigned/approved. Engage in regular school-based team meetings to plan and coordinate services with QCH and Pioneer Academy staff.

    The Student Support Coordinator will:

    • Serve as a key member in a team approach promoting the program as a welcoming place for Pioneer Academy children and families to improve their lives. Such work includes but is not limited to;
      • Collaborate and work with Pioneer Academy School Based Team around parent engagement, staff development, and activities contributing to social and emotional learning (SEL) and program strengthening.
      • Promote and implement family-focused activities for families of Pioneer Academy including, but not limited to, Family Literacy events, events to promote positive parenting practices, and meeting your child's developmental needs.
      • Provide case management, coordination, referrals, and service planning for families at Pioneer Academy as approved by the Director of Counseling Services and in collaboration with the Community School Director and other Pioneer Academy leadership.
      • Ensure accuracy and professional standards of all written internal and external documents consistent with QCH and funder requirements.
      • Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude with all stakeholders.
      • Represent QCH at meetings, conferences, and workshops when designated.
      • Supervise graduate student interns to support primary tasks.
      • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Masters of Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling, or related degree required; Licensure and SIFI certification preferred; BSW degree may be considered with substantial experience in a school setting.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of student support experience in a school or community-based setting.
    • Commitment to the multi-service, settlement house model.
    • Experience and knowledge of youth development principles/practices.
    • Experience in individual casework, group work, activity management, and mediation.
    • Familiarity with current best practice models of family engagement work.
    • Ability to be available evenings and weekends for special programming, events, and activities (generally 1-2 evenings a week and 1 Saturday a month, as needed).
    • Comfort with data collection and using data to inform practice, and document milestones and outcomes.
    • Proven ability to be proactive with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
    • Proven capacity to work as part of a team and a strong initiative to drive forward and complete project goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and execute plans, manage multiple initiatives, and prioritize competing demands.
    • Good judgment, decision-making, and follow-through on tasks.
    • Bilingual required (English/Spanish) with proficient written and oral communication skills.
