    Responsibilities & Overview

    Blackspoke is looking for a software developer to help NGA modernize its imagery process related to Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) through modern software development. In this role you will have a chance to redesign the current suite of analytical tools used by one of the largest intelligence community members by creating applications that use the latest technology (containers, microservices, etc.) to scale to support the analysis of increasingly large volumes of data related to national security and to help improve the overall response times to meet missions needs. Bring your creativity as a developer to create solutions to deal with large scale imagery analysis and shorten analytic timelines as the agency attempts to modernize their Geospatial Intelligence collection.

    The team you would join is currently rebuilding a critical client application to be available through web-enabled microservices deployed on a containerized platform. This application generates key foundational military information (FMI) that provides the basic knowledge and taxonomy of an asymmetric or conventional adversary's structure, operating location, equipment and supportive infrastructure which enables capabilities analysis. The Software Application Developer will be able operate with autonomy when required but will be working with a team of developers that will guide the technical objectives in Microservice development using DevOps Tools to build automated CI/CD pipelines. All development is done through the implementation of language-agnostic Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) ensuring services can effectively communicate with internal and external services. The program itself will eventually transform the entire suite of applications for NGA's largest imagery division over the next five years, be part of a program that will be on the ground floor as new capabilities such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) are adopted to drive mission outcomes.

    Requirements:

    • Proficiency with at least one development language (Python, Java, other)
    • 5 years of experience in application development
    • Proficiency in Agile, API-first, and adaptive maintenance methodologies.

    Nice to Have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with NGA's enterprise-managed DevSecOps environment. (OpenShift, Gitlab Runners, Argo and Kubernetes)
    • Experience with GeoSpatial concepts and tools such as tools such as RemoteView, Geoserver, iSpy, SocketGXP
    • Experience in UI/UX
    • Experience with Automated Testing
    • Prior experience or familiarity with Intelligence Community projects.
