    Z3Talent is excited to partner with Trailhead Institute to find their next Executive Director. As a public health institute, Trailhead is dedicated to making a difference in communities throughout Colorado through their administrative support and programming.

Through community engagement programs, active administrative partnerships, youth sexual health and education services, and food access and security initiatives like the Collaborative Leadership Initiatives, Trailhead enables us to realize the true and purpose-driven potential of public health in Colorado. Through a culture of conscious collaboration—a think tank of the possible—Trailhead provides the essential tools, platforms, and the necessary personnel for realizing the complete and full potential of what public health in Colorado is truly meant to achieve.

    As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and operational oversight to further Trailhead's mission and vision. In addition, you will play a crucial role as a community leader promoting public & environmental health throughout Colorado.

    Scope of Responsibilities Include:

    • Organizational Strategy and Leadership
    • Board of Directors Administration
    • Outreach and Communication
    • Fund Development Strategy
    • Public and Environmental Health Advancement
    • Operations Leadership

    Desired Experience:

    • At least 10 years of progressive management experience or 5 years of advanced executive leadership.
    • Extensive knowledge of and experience in public health and/or environmental health, experience and expertise in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region preferred.
    • Prior nonprofit P&L responsibility is highly desired.
    • Proven fundraiser with the ability to build lasting financial partnerships.
    • Strong demonstrated commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI).
    • High emotional intelligence with an engaging and accessible style that builds trust and confidence across diverse team cultures and priorities.
    • Familiarity with the Rocky Mountain region, its history, communities, and culture and the unique dynamic of improving public and environmental health in the region or a demonstrated ability to learn and engage with different communities and cultures.
    • Commitment to building and working with a diverse staff, Board, partner agencies and community members.
    • Ability to develop partnerships, build coalitions, including networking relationship-building, and public speaking across sectors and diverse communities.
    • Experience working with/engaging an active and involved Board of Directors.
    • High level of business acumen and broad experience with strategic planning, budgeting, finance, grant writing, negotiating, and monitoring contracts.
    • Experience leading organizations, including executing change management strategies.
    • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, able to resolve issues directly as they arise through the practice of ethical communication
    • Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish, preferred.
