- Manages, coaches, and provides training to consumer loan processors/underwriters to ensure Bank's credit policies, procedures and standards are met.
- Monitors assigned loan application queue to ensure loans are handled in a timely manner to meet department's service level standards and regulatory requirements.
- Communicates effectively (with internal/external customers and Management) concerning approved and declined consumer loans.
- May perform secondary review on loan applications decisioned with a "Decline" or "Counteroffer" to ensure credit decisions are made according to loan policy, the file is documented correctly, and the adverse action letter is accurate and according to regulatory requirements.
- Approves loans requiring higher lending authority.
- Provides guidance to underwriters and directly underwrites the more complex loan requests according to Bank's policies and procedures.
- Works to ensure production standards are met by the consumer underwriting team.
- May develop new procedures and processes to enhance workflow and ensure Bank's policies are met.
- Performs in accordance with the Bank's efficiency standards.
- Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations as they apply to consumer lending.
- Knowledge of consumer loan products and credit analysis for consumer lending.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and business and personal financial statements and tax returns.
- Knowledge of consumer compliance bank regulations in addition to the Office of Foreign Asset Control, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and the USA PATRIOT Act.
- Knowledge of general banking principles.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative to accomplish work objectives.
- Ability to work effectively and demonstrate flexibility in a continually changing environment.
- Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with exacting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with staff and management at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree (Business or Finance preferred) or commensurate work experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of consumer credit underwriting work experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience preferred.
