    Job Summary

    The Community Program Assistant is a part-time position responsible for facilitating Girl Scout Leadership programs to girls in grades K-12 in various community settings (schools, places of worship, community centers) through a series of four-to-six-week sessions following approved curriculum and guidelines. Program locations will focus on areas that are undeserved and culturally diverse in Baltimore City and surrounding counties. The work hours for this position vary according to when and where the programs are to be facilitated up to 15 hours per week. This position is eligible for mileage reimbursement.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Works in partnership with Community Program Coordinators to effectively facilitate quality, age-appropriate programming to girls in various community settings that cover a wide range of topics, including STEM, self-esteem, and anti-bullying from a pre-set curriculum in which training will be provided.
    • Maintains accurate records and provides accurate reporting as required.
    • Assists with community cultivation and identification of potential troop leaders to transition each program into a traditional troop.
    • Participates in training opportunities offered by council to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
    • Ensures that all activities meet GSUSA and council policies and standards.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    Requirements:

    Skills, Education and/or Relevant Experience:

    • Must be 21 years or older and able to successfully pass a background check.
    • Incumbents must have reliable transportation and the ability to get to job assignments.
    • Minimum education: Some college or relevant work experience preferred. Teacher certification and/or education background highly desired.
    • Experience working with youth and passionate about developing girls into leaders.
    • Must possess the ability to work with girls in a large group setting and be able to apply critical thinking, use of good judgment, and make positive decisions.
    • Must possess and be able to comprehend and effectively articulate standardized curricula.
    • Must possess strong classroom management skills and be able to adapt programs to accommodate girls with development, physical or cultural needs.
    • Must be a highly motivated self-starter who is detail oriented.
    • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills are required.
