Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a
Security Program Assistant who provides security to the facility by inspecting the persons and property of visitors and clients prior to allowing them entrance to the facility.

Conducts ongoing security checks as assigned to ensure safety. The Security PA provides services to guests/clients in a dignified and respectful manner. Sets a positive example of courteous and concerned behavior towards others.

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center is a low-barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in the City of Baltimore.

Our services include shelter, convalescent care, breakfast and dinner, showers, laundry, case management and a variety of life skills and empowerment classes - with a focused goal of assisting residents in obtaining permanent housing.

Schedule:
Saturday, Sundays and Holidays, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides security to the facility by inspecting the persons and property of visitors and clients prior to allowing them entrance to the facility.
• Conduct periodic security checks throughout the building and report unusual activity to supervision.
• Respond to, and assist, in emergency and/or security incidents.
• Conducts room inspections and assesses level of compliance to established policies and procedures.
• Provide general assistance to guests and assist in various aspects of delivery of services including assisting in the operation of meals, clothing, laundry, restroom, and shower rooms.
• The position requires hauling and lifting supply items from the pod to the building for distribution to all floors. The position also requires providing assistance with deliveries as well as pod organization and stocking.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• One year of related experience preferably working with the homeless or atrisk populations.
• Willing and able to work inside and outside, in elements such as precipitation and wind
• Shows reliability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
• Good social skills with respectful demeanor toward staff, clients, and visitors.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Ability to intervene between 2 or more people in a nonviolent manner
• Knowledge of basic concepts of personal care, housekeeping, and other care areas

REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

• Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds with occasional heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 pounds.
• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps, etc.
• Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Working in low or high temperatures and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary, and be able to life and/or transfer people.
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to observe and communicate with others.
