    Position Overview:

    Our company is an established full-service CPA firm looking to add an Accounting Specialist to expand our team. We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced accountant who is ready to ditch the tax season grind and join a technology forward firm that serves its growing clients while still maintaining a life outside of work. This position works directly with clients to help them achieve their goals by providing timely and accurate accounting information and tax compliance.

    This is a part-time, remote, work-from-home position with the main office located in St. Louis, MO. This person will report directly to the Accounting Services Supervisor.

    Duties, Responsibilities & Expectations:

    The Accounting Specialist works as part of the fulfillment team and must be detail-oriented and due date driven. The role requires the ability to manage multiple clients, multiple accounting platforms and a variety of tasks and outcomes. This position requires a high level of problem-solving ability as well as strong formal and informal communication skills.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Preparing monthly and quarterly workpapers and reporting using QuickBooks or another accounting platform
    • Entering transactions, reconciling accounts and completing daily bookkeeping activity for clients including invoicing and paying vendor bills
    • Communicating directly with clients to troubleshoot accounting issues and provide account analysis
    • Assisting with monthly and quarterly tax compliance including payroll, sales and use taxes
    • Preparing individual and business annual tax returns
    • Being an integral part of the team
    • Training to stay current on software changes, tax law updates, and accounting rules
    • Working within an established time budget to ensure profitability of subscription based jobs

    Minimum Requirements:

    You must:

    • Have a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (CPA not required)
    • Have at least 2 years of tax preparation experience
    • Be able to meet and manage deadlines
    • Have at least 3 - 5 years of experience with QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online
    • Have the desire and ABILITY to learn
    • Be comfortable with technology
    • Have outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal), and be able to provide written and verbal feedback to clients in relation to their financial reports and accounting processes
    • Be EXTREMELY detail-oriented.

    You'd have an advantage if you:

    • Are QuickBooks Online certified
    • Have previous public accounting experience
    • Have worked with Drake Tax

    This Position is for you if:

    • You are able to work 25-30 hours a week from home, 12 months a year
    • You have a strong desire to serve clients by providing high quality outputs and soothing their concerns and confusion over their numbers
    • You embrace technology and seek out efficiencies
    • You are a team player, willing to do what it takes to make things happen
    • You have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be productive without heavy supervision.

    This Position is NOT Right for you if you:

    • Need to be micro-managed
    • Aren't reliable, responsible or comfortable with tech and a paperless environment
    • Want a full-time position plus overtime - this is permanent part-time
    • Only want to learn from us in order to leave to start your own firm.
