    Position Purpose

    The Staff Accountant at BrandEd Holdings LLC is responsible for day-to-day administrative, financial and compliance operations of the company, including accounting operations, student billing and receivables management, monthly close and financial reporting, annual audit and tax compliance support and other special projects.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties and responsibilities include the following, but the individual will also be expected to perform all the duties necessary which are customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Responsible for the monthly accounting close and financial reporting process, including preparation of consolidated financial reports for Sotheby's Institute of Art.
    • Supports the annual budget process and monthly/annual cash forecasting.
    • Contributes to planning and strategic discussions.
    • Acts as the main point of contact to external auditors and provides all required information.
    • Keeps senior leadership fully appraised of all pertinent financial matters – particularly any significant negative variances to budget in time for appropriate remedial action to be taken.
    • Recommends and implements initiatives that will improve SIA's financial performance and financial controls in all locations.
    • Demonstrates professionalism and diplomacy in interpersonal relationships.
    • Responsible for managing the Junior Accountant role.
    • Supports and embraces diversity.

    Financial Reporting

    • Review journal entries and prepare account reconciliations for month end close
    • Prepare monthly SIA NY and consolidated SIA financial reports and budgetary variance analysis.
    • Fixed asset and intangible asset reconciliations

    AR Billing

    • Managing invoicing and collections process for university and other partnerships: Centro, Tsinghua university and any other partnerships associated with SIA.
    • Generate Student Tuition Statements - sending tuition statements, applying payments and refunds.
    • Maintain student records in electronic folders attaching proof of payments along with tuition statements, deposits, and Terms and Conditions
    • Maintain students records of scholarship awards acceptance.
    • Maintain A/R daily and ensure student records are monitored, account balances paid, and payment plans properly scheduled.
    • Conduct follow-up for students and other aged receivables (partnerships) with overdue balances and inquiring payment statuses.
    • Work with Non-Degree Admissions and Program Managers for adhoc manual invoices and adhoc manual credit card links to be sent to students.
    • Set standards and practices and review terms and conditions for billing and payment.
    • Authorizing signatures of Terms and condition for new students

    Audit and tax

    • Manage annual compliance and financial audits and submit to relevant regulatory bodies and brand partners.
    • Supervise the annual 1098-T process.

    • Ability to work additional hours, if necessary
    • Knowledge and intermediate experience in Excel. (Vlookup, Sumif, pivot)
    Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure
    • US Citizenship or Permanent Residence Status required.
    • An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required.
    • 2-3 years experience in accounting or a related field is required.
    Language Skills
    • Professional written and spoken language skills are needed.
    • Proficiency in English
