- Develops and maintains systems and procedures for agency financial operations.
- Selects, trains and supervises subordinates in their position duties.
- Supervises the preparation of financial statements and submits these to executive leadership, program managers, board of directors, Jewish Federation, and other public and private agencies.
- Assists in the development of final budgets.
- Assists in preservation and expansion of present and new funding sources.
- Studies the total operation of the agency to determine financial requirements and advises executive director and chief financial officer.
- Maintains liaison with the treasurer or finance committee of the board and assists the treasurer in maintenance of records required for control of assets.
- Administers all tax and insurance programs of the agency and recommends insurance requirements and policies.
- Supervises arrangements for contracts for services required by agency such as building maintenance or leased automobiles.
- Develops and administers nonfinancial systems and procedures related to business, clerical and maintenance services.
- Maintains high-level contacts with personnel in other agencies, board members and public and private groups.
- Participates in long-range planning of agency operations.
- Implements physical or financial decisions of board, as directed.
- Builds alliances with internal and external people, includes all stakeholders in problem solving.
- Communicates in an open and candid manner and follows through.
- Contributes to a climate of trust and collaboration in which everyone wants to do their best.
- Actively seeks out opportunities to improve client/customer experiences, agency processes and procedure.
- Takes time to coach team members to fully understand their roles, responsibilities and performance standards/expectations; provides ongoing feedback and support as employees strive to achieve expectations.
- Finds meaningful growth opportunities for team members. Gives everyone a chance to do more, learn more, get more and be an important part of the team.
- Assesses and communicates progress on projects and goals and is accountable for results.
- Leverages the strengths of the team, assesses gaps in skills and knowledge and provides training and development opportunities.
- CPA preferred; bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- At least ten years of experience is required, preferably including sufficient experience both in public accounting for registration as well as experience in a social service agency.
