    Job Title: Community Development - Maintenance Assistant

    The Nunavut Housing Corporation, an entity of the Government of Nunavut, addresses the housing needs of the region's rapidly expanding and young population. With a mandate to offer equitable access to affordable housing options, NHC has launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, a collective initiative to deliver 3,000 new housing units by 2030.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in planning, implementing, and coordinating housing repair and maintenance programs for Local Housing Organizations (LHOs).
    • Oversee public and staff housing retrofits, modernization projects, and asset maintenance.
    • Support the delivery of repair and maintenance programs.
    • Collaborate with various divisions to optimize the efficiency of the Maintenance Management program.
    • Contribute to cost reduction in NHC's housing portfolios.

    Requirements:

    • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
    • 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    • Asset qualifications: building inspection experience, designation as a building official, cold climate building expertise.
    • Knowledge of Inuktut, English, or French; fluency in multiple languages is an advantage.
    • Familiarity with Inuit culture, communities, and cross-cultural work environments.

    An eligibility list may be established for future vacancies within the Nunavut Housing Corporation.

    • Prioritization for Nunavut Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
    • Government of Nunavut employees on probation require written authorization from department heads.
    • Consideration of criminal record based on job requirements.
    • Foreign credential assessment for candidates with international education.
