    Key Responsibilities:
    As a Facilities Utility Specialist you will work in a fast-paced Facilities Maintenance Operations department. The Facilities Utility Specialist plays a very important role in providing quality service to our internal customers. The Facilities Utility Specialist performs work in accordance with guidelines established in the collective bargaining agreement.
    Identifying and checking tools, test equipment and certain commodities in and out of the warehouse, as well as the service, cleaning, inventory storage and accounting of tools, test equipment and commodities used in the daily operationPerforming routine maintenance tasks of a general nature, such as servicing, cleaning and transporting equipment as well as cutting, sizing, and forming materialsAssisting in the operation of the airline baggage system including and not limited to monitoring, managing and clearing of baggage related jams and operational support of the baggage handling systemsSurface treatment of facility component parts with chemicals and sandblasting equipmentGeneral shop and housekeeping responsibilities as related to storage, break, and work area cleanlinessSupporting the department through the transportation, inventory and accounting of parts and components needed to complete tasksAssisting Technicians with work as requestedFacilities Utility Specialist must be able to work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, in the outdoors in all weather conditionsSchedules are bid and awarded according to seniorityFacilities Utility Specialist are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)

    Salary increases will be coordinated according to the current IBT/United contractShift differentials are paid for working an afternoon or evening shift respectively as outlined in the collective bargaining agreementNew employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employmentThere is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union duesQualificationsWhat's needed to succeed:

    Must have a high school diploma/GED or education equivalent or a certification from an accredited trade schoolMust possess valid state issued Driver's LicenseStrong social skills and the ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environmentGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work any shift assigned (nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed) within 24/7 operationAbility to climb and work from ladders, and/or walk for extended periodsAbility to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditionAbility to work in an environment with exposure to high noise levelsModerate liftingCustomer focusedMust be at least 18 years of ageUnited Airlines is an equal opportunity employer.
