- Liaise with outside tax preparer to review state and local franchise, income, sales and use, property, gross receipt and other tax returns and payments;
- Work with operations and billing to determine the applicability and management of collection/remittance as it relates to goods/services Audubon is billing for etc.
- Research and analyze state and local tax laws and regulations and monitor changes that may affect our business;
- Preparation of workpapers supporting the completion of Federal and State separate and consolidated Income Tax returns;
- Work with the accounting department and other business units within the U.S. group to gather information necessary for filing Indirect and Income Tax returns;
- Preparation of U.S. group tax provision in accordance with amongst others, the Audubon Accounting policies and ASC 740 for statutory reporting purposes, including supporting workpapers and documenting the tax position taken;
- Understanding of US reporting requirements as the organization is part of a global group;
- Provide tax advice and guidance on various business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and audits;
- Manage state and local tax audits, inquiries and assist in negotiations with federal and state tax authorities to resolve any issues or disputes;
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants as needed;
- While partnering with the CFO, proactively develops and implements tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance, efficiency and continuous improvement;
- Coordinate the collection of tax data from each business, for tax filings;
- Coordinate with businesses for tax related matters as part of the proposal process;
- Maintain compliance register and ensure tax filings are submitted timely;
- Supports the budgeting process in all tax matters;
- Supports the implementation of new ERP as needed;
- General understanding of international taxation and work with businesses to ensure that we're compliant on foreign related projects;
- Works on other tax matters as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred, or Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation;
- 5+ years' experience, preferably with exposure to a public accounting firm and experience in a multinational corporation;
- Extensive knowledge and experience in state and local tax compliance and planning;
- Familiarity with tax software, databases and global ERP;
- Prior exposure to Internal Global corporations;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Multi-tasker with an ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Self-starter, proactive and focused in adding value to the organization and the multiple stakeholders;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Strong organizational and planning skills.

The State Local Tax Manager will oversee Audubon's state and local tax compliance and planning.
