- Provide support to co-workers and manager.
- Perform data entry to ensure the estate tax return data is complete and available within the core department system.
- Provide customer service to internal and external customers.
- Process, sort, and destroy scanned paper estate tax documents maintained in office.
- Determine interest liability for estate tax, adjust estate tax returns with approval levels up to $1,500, or send out debit balances due with approval levels up to $1,000 on estate tax accounts deemed to not need an audit.
- Issue final releases and close estate tax accounts deemed to not need an audit.
- Make preliminary collection phone calls when assigned by an examiner. Telework - Some remote working will be allowed, but this position will be expected to work in the office two days per week. This requirement is subject to change and may require more, or less, in-office work in the future.

Audit is an operating division within Revenue that administers statewide tax programs and conducts both desk examinations and in-person audits to ensure compliance with state tax laws. The Audit division offers the following opportunities:
Duties
The Estate Tax team is a smaller unit where all members get to work together to accomplish the team's goals. We are a close-knit group that works together to solve problems, we value the open exchange of ideas and information, and we continually seek ways to enhance usability and improve customer service. All receipts collected through Washington's Estate Tax program are deposited in the Education Legacy Trust Account to support the state's common schools and expand student access to higher education.
The role of this Excise Tax Assistant directly supports the agency by providing administrative support to the Estate Tax Team. Specifically, this position performs a variety of duties such as, registering estate tax accounts, data entry, and uploading documents/images into the agency's database.
Additional duties include:
Qualifications
High school graduation AND two years of tax-related or fiscally-oriented clerical experience.
NOTE: College coursework, vocational, technical, or business school training in business or public administration, accounting, bookkeeping, or closely related field will substitute, year for year, for experience.
