Staff Associate III - New York, United States - Columbia University
Description
The Department of Epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Research Coordinator to assist in the coordination and management of several projects funded by the NIH and private foundations related to tuberculosis (TB) epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa. The incumbent will report directly to the Principal Investigators and will assist in literature reviews, protocol development, biospecimen management, survey development, data collection, data quality control, database management and maintenance, participant recruitment and retention, and manuscript preparation and presentation of materials for conferences and lectures and in submission of IRB protocols. S/he will perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Monitoring achievement of grant implementation milestones, coordinating team activities, and leading and creating meeting agendas (20%).
Preparing documents related to research activities, including study protocols, IRB submissions, and grant progress reports (15%).
Supervising and training other research staff (10%).
Collecting and managing study data and developing a study database/tracking. Maintain databases, source documents (surveys, consent, interest forms), and other study-related files (20%).
Assisting with program quality metrics relevant to study milestones, intervention engagement, and participant recruitment and retention (5%).
Assisting with literature reviews, background research, and writing of grants and manuscripts, conference abstracts and other submissions (10%).
Design and oversee data quality control activities (5%)
Conduct and present interim data analyses (10%)
Performing other related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested (5%).
Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree or equivalent in epidemiology or public health with a concentration in epidemiology. The candidate must be able to independently learn new skills required for project management. The candidate should be detail-oriented, with superior organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times. The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a full background check prior to a final offer of employment being made.
Additional Qualifications :
The candidate should also be willing to travel internationally.
The ability to work with large teams of diverse investigators and collaborators (researchers, public health officials, and policy makers).
Preferred Qualifications
Qualitative and quantitative research skills including proficiency in software such as SAS, R and/or STATA are preferred.
Knowledge and interest in clinical and infectious disease epidemiology.
Experience with epidemiologic research, including literature reviews, protocol development, survey development, data collection, database management and IRB submissions.
International travel experience.
