    The Spirit of the Position:


    The DOT Compliance Manager, reports to the Vice President, Transportation and is responsible for leading the DOT compliance efforts for LAZ transportation operations through its various service lines and locations throughout the country.


    Responsibilities:

    • Obtain, analyze, and communicate critical federal, state, and local transportation and environmental regulations for management in related departments/regions and partner with regional Safety Managers and HR to modify and/or develop policies, procedures and training programs where necessary.
    • Monitors changes in passenger transporting laws and regulations and implements responsive change.
    • Monitoring of LAZ safety compliance and performance in field operations. Partner with Operations and HR to ensure all Transportation Drivers comply with DOT and FMCSA (National, State, and Local) regulations (Driver Qualification files, Hours of Service, MVR, etc.) as well as all vehicles have appropriate daily, monthly, and annual documentation (repair and maintenance logs, inspections, etc.).
    • Provide reports as assigned and develop reports as needed,
    • Serve as the point of contact to monitor compliance with the DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
    • Manage the training program and make changes as needed.
    • Provide support for new Shuttle operations (SME guidance), registration with state and local agencies, obtaining local operating authority, and identifying trends and training gaps, as needed.
    • Report and maintain various Company DOT and FMCA compliance filings, including the MCS-150 Biennial report and Unified Carrier Registration.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Legal Team liaison for accident and incident investigations.
    • Leads Safety Manager team with new programs, performance feedback, and training initiatives, utilizing technology and fixed processes.
    • Manage national safety contracts for LAZ.
    • Review and distribute MVR/EPN reports (driving records) and Pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug screens for all DOT CDL drivers.
    • Manage all transportation regulatory requirements and ensure compliance.

    Education


    • Bachelor's Degree in logistics, operations management, or related field preferred, but not required.

    Experience:

    • 5 years' experience managing multiple operations and staff in a safety leadership role.
    • 5 years' experience in managing strategic initiatives and performance metric-based systems.
    • 5 years' experience in developing, implementing, and managing safety programs.
    • Demonstrated experience in safety-related federal agencies and OSHA compliance requirements.
    • Must have a valid Driver's License, active or former Commercial Driver's License preferred.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to lift, push, pull, and otherwise move objects of at least 10 pounds.
    • A willingness for occasional work in the elements - heat, wind, rain, etc.
    • Regularly communicate with the ability to talk and hear.
    • Regularly work on repetitive tasks that use hands, arms, and wrists
    • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects.
    • Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and those that require depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly.
    • Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
    • Occasional ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
    • Occasional ability to bend, stoop, squat, and lift throughout a shift.
