Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:

We are currently seeking a full-time on-site Senior Library Assistant/ Copy Cataloger in our Library. This position provides cataloging support unique to our university systems and library. Please include a cover letter and a resume with your application submission.

Primary Responsibilities:

Choose bibliographic records for newly acquired materials
Troubleshoot cataloging problems and determine best solution.
Create bibliographic and holding records for items following accepted local and national standards.
Process bindery, tracks print serials, and repair items.
Partner with the librarian to maintain the government document collection.
Manages deselection lists for distribution as required by federal standards
Create item records assigning location codes and verifying call numbers
Provide occasional customer service coverage to the service desk/circulation team.

Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED.
At least 3 years of experience with copy cataloging.
Knowledge of cataloging systems, procedures, operations, and local/national standards
Able to apply AACR and RDA rules.
A high level of interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt and formulate cataloging procedures and policies when necessary
Proficiency in computer applications, software, and equipment.

Preferences:

Cataloging certification or completion of catalog coursework.
Experience using MARC, LC, SUDOC classification, Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR), and Resource Description and Access (RDA) standards.
Familiarity with authority control and Exlibris Alma
