Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Federal Grant and Contract Finance Coordinator is responsible for post-award management and administration of federal grants and contracts for faculty in the Department of Physics.

This individual will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of faculty accounts, ensuring that resources are well managed, accurately reported and comply with federal and state regulations as well as University of Maryland policies and procedures.

This position must adhere to University financial management standards, general management and accounting principles, practices, methods, and techniques. A successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to apply various policies and procedures to real-world situations. In addition, a successful candidate must be enthusiastic, positive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have a demonstrable ability to take initiative.
Minimum Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a similar capacity.
Must have a minimum of 1 year of professional experience working with government grants or contracts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong financial management skills, including budget development, forecasting, and monitoring.
Demonstrating proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well with, and motivate, colleagues of varying responsibilities in the organization.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective policies and procedures while analyzing situations and providing alternative solutions.

Proven track record of successful grant management, including experience managing complex budgets and meeting reporting requirements.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple competing demands.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations and policies governing research administration, including but not limited to, Uniform Guidance, and

OMB
Circulars.
Dedication to providing excellent service to internal and external customers

Graduate level coursework in accounting or related fields.
Experience with the shadow accounting software Priority BA4, or other similar accounting software.
Prior experience in a University or lab setting working directly with faculty, researchers or individuals in other related fields.

The starting annual salary is between $64K – $80K, commensurate with experience.
Up to 40% telework is available after successfully completing the onboarding period.
