Position Summary/Purpose of Position:


  • The
    Research Coordinator, will be responsible for Preaward, Subaward management and financial management.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for sponsored research proposal preparation for the department. Work directly with PTK Faculty, providing assistance with preparing research proposals, including preparing budgets, other cost/price information, and nontechnical documents (current/pending, formatting resumes, etc.).
  • Proposal development, including assisting in the development of budgets that conform to Federal/UMD regulation.
  • Assist with task/award set up when funded.
  • Assist AD with Subaward management.
  • Request and monitor subcontracts, from tracking rates of spending on purchase orders to requesting submission of deliverables. Request additional accounts for tracking purposes as needed.
  • Assist Business Managers with the financial processing which will include:
  • Performing all accounting transactions, such as, Auxiliary Vouchers, General Error Correction, Procurement request, Travel request and Payroll transfer activities.
  • Posting, Reconciliations, subrecipient management, payroll and equipment. Preparing reports for PI/Task leads and AD to represent accounts in good standing.
  • Processing travel and procurement request from PTK Faculty to include initiating and managing procurement (purchase orders; credit cards; status of orders), and travel (hotel arrangements, registration, airfare, etc.).
  • Process daytoday requests and inquiries related duties.
The salary range for this position is $52,000 to $65,000 a year.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education & experience required.
  • Bachelor's can be substituted with a combination of experience, training, and education.

Experience:


  • Four to six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of financial processing (such as in budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, travel processing and personnel work).
  • Previous proven experience with preaward or subaward management duties is a plus.

Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.


Preferences:


Preferred Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with coordinating detailed sponsor reporting, proposal preparation and routing, and subcontract coordination.
  • A minimum of two years of progressive responsibility in research administration or a combination of budgeting and proposal development, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Subaward management experience.
  • Prior and knowledgeable experience with processing travel and procurement under Federally sponsored awards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel to prepare and analyze complex spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and procedures of UMCP.
  • Familiarity with BA4/Priority and Kuali Research software systems.
  • Familiarity with State and University procedures, and with sponsored research sponsor(s) and knowledge of and experience with, governmental/higher education general accounting, procurement and travel rules and regulations.
  • CONCUR & KFS experience is a plus
