    Position Title:
    Surgical Technology Faculty, Full-Time

    General Description:

    The Department of Allied Health invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty in Surgical Technology for the academic year.

    This full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Surgical Technology presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and leadership of a new Surgical Tech program at the College.

    The selected faculty member will serve as the curriculum coordinator in the first two years of their appointment, have access to previously established partnerships with local health systems in Philadelphia, while also teaching courses in the Allied Health Department.

    Candidates with experience in teaching surgical tech courses, college-level courses, and clinical skills are sought after, with opportunities for further faculty recruitment as the program grows.

    Associate of Arts degrees in Public Health, Health Care Studies and Health Services Management are focused on transfer to 4-year bachelor's degree institutions.

    Associate of Applied Science degrees in Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Medical Laboratory Technician and Respiratory Care Technology focus on developing skills needed for employment in these exciting fields, as well as to prepare students for transfer to bachelor's degree programs.

    We also offer three certificate programs in Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Billing, and Patient Service Representative, that can be completed in one calendar year or less, and are also intended to prepare students for employment.

    Teach courses from the following areas:
    introductory and advanced clinical skills, pharmacology, and point -of-care laboratory testing.

    Internal Community Relations:

    Actively participate in the academic life of the College; including participation in graduation, recruitment events, general assemblies, student life activities and other cross functional teams.

    Create learning opportunities for students inside and outside of the classroom including opportunities to teach dual-enrollment high school students.

    ~ Respect for Diversity:

    Demonstrate an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the College's faculty, staff and students.

    ~ Assessment:

    Full participation in the assessment of student learning and student learning outcomes at the course, program, and institution levels.

    ~ Strive for excellence in teaching, applying best practices in field of discipline, and modeling behaviors that encourage student success and retention. Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technologies for online learning and other technology tools to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population. Maintain office hours to meet with students outside of the classroom and respond to questions or concerns.

    ~ Remain current in the use of technology, developments within the field of discipline, and developments related to teaching and student success

    Bachelor's degree in health- related field.

    ~ Alternatively, candidate must be actively enrolled in a Healthcare-related Bachelor's degree program and commit to earning a Bachelor's degree within 2 years of hire date.

    ~ Minimum of three (3) years recent scrub experience, or three (3) years recent experience as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past (10) years. Current (NBSTA)- approved credential in surgical technology (CST, CSFA, or CST/CSFA).

    Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.

    ~ Bilingual or other language proficiency.
