- Coordinates all UConn Library administrative services operations, workflows, and record management functions. Provides process analysis and evaluation, develops recommendations, and implements improvements to ensure delivery of quality administrative services. Ensures consistency across the library and alignment with organizational values and priorities.
- Is knowledgeable in and provides information to library staff regarding the interpretation and application of policies and regulations governing human resources activities and functions. Serves as a functional knowledge manager, providing coordinated and knowledgeable communication concerning University policies as stated under the offices of Diversity and Equity, Human Resources, Payroll, Student Employment, and University Compliance.
- Has in-depth knowledge, understands, and keeps current in Human Resources management. Initiates, reviews, and/or approves documentation necessary for all personnel actions and assures compliance with federal, state, and University policy, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements. Reviews records and data for accuracy, reconciles differences, and works with other staff and University offices to identify errors and make corrections.
- Supports, develops, and implements resolutions for a full range of complex administrative matters, analyzes and makes recommendations on library administrative policies and procedures, thoughtfully communicating potential short and long-term effects. Communicates information on administrative policies, procedures, and programs library wide.
- Coordinates the administrative workflow for the Library's Promotion Review Advisory Committee.
- Directs, plans, and communicates administrative services efforts in alignment with UConn Library priorities, resources, and services. Resolves the most difficult or unusual situations presented to the unit and serves as the primary resource for library staff, University offices, academic departments, and outside agencies regarding unit work.
- Compiles data and prepares reports used to monitor or assess unit activities, programs, and services or project future needs.
- Oversees the maintenance and modification of complex filing and record-keeping systems.
- Assigns, oversees, reviews, and evaluates the work of direct reports. Establishes work schedules and approves timesheets. Maintains supervisory files.
- Promotes collegiality and inclusivity and is communicative about priorities, opportunities, and challenges.
- Creates a positive workplace culture through the promotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice.
- Follows the Performance Management Guidelines as outlined by the library, Human Resources, and the staff member's contractually specified evaluation process.
- Provides training and assistance to each direct report. Supports involvement in professional development activities and provides internal development opportunities as appropriate to each position.
- Applies the principles of the library's core values and strategic framework through active contribution and cooperation in achieving Area and Unit priorities and operational goals.
- Demonstrates reliable and effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates active learning in and communication of ongoing trends and developments related to professional and positional responsibilities.
- Works effectively in current applications, software, and communication tools as employed by the UConn Library and UConn.

- Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the position and a minimum of three years related professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB SUMMARY
The UConn Library seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Head of Administrative Services reporting to the Assistant Dean for Library Administration. The Head of Administrative Services supervises one full-time employee and is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and human resources functions for the UConn Library.
The successful candidate will have excellent organization and communication skills and actively demonstrate effective leadership, professional judgment, interpersonal skills, and decision-making practices.
