The unprecedented value of a glass

The unprecedented value of a glass

Have you ever stopped and simply pondered the amazing value of a glass? This object that is constructed out of a variety of materials but is still called a glass. We debate whether it is half full or half empty. We derive hours of debate on that very question, yet we are discussing a simple object and our fixation upon it. When you enter a home you are often offered a glass of water or another beverage.

This simple vessel has become a central aspect of human culture. An object designed for one simple task, to hold liquid. This simple object has become not just an object but a central, common and essential fixture in every household. A glass.

No longer is a glass a simple object but it has taken on the form of many strange and clever imaginings. And while each of these imaginings exists each one has at it's heart it's original task, hold liquid for consumption. This amazing addition to our existence common place yet essential. An object each of us is quite acquainted with, yet I must say often unaware of our attachment to. What an fascinating device.

A glass, the center of hospitality and the focus of psychological conversations yet it is one of the first things a child is taught to use. Truly, this object has unprecedented value. Unique I might say. So common yet so essential.

Next time your lift one to your lips ponder just how your life might be different if it failed to exist. I must admit I do not care if mine is half full or half empty as long as it is filled with a good tea.

Blessings all and have a beautiful day!

Expanding on the value of glass manufacturers of squeeze bottles of tomato ketchup and mayonnaise have said they are considering returning to glass bottles. Why? Because glass bottles are much easier to recycle than plastic ones and it will lessen the impact of plastic on the environment. Good idea, however it brings back memories of shaking the bottle banging the bottom, and great dollops of ketchup e everywhere.
