SUPPLY CHAIN NEWS, NOT MICRO-BREWERIES BUT MICRO-FULFILLMENT CENTERS coming to a store near you. Regards, Savannah Supply Chain Guy Bill Stankiewicz

Hello To All Supply Chain Bees:
Hope all are having a great day, I do love talking with all the bees here, so many call me on the phone at 1.404.750.3200 and I enjoy helping others! ALL BEES ROCK!!

Well this week on Tuesday Luckys Food Market in Savannah announced that all 75 employees have 3 more weeks and the store is closing. Luckys HQ is based in Colorado and that same day stated 32 US stores will be closed in 30 days. Main reason is because Kroger pulled its funding and was a major investor. Competition is fierce here in food with Amazon, Kroger, Publix, Walmart & other European investors in the USA market.

Supermarkets work off razor thin margins, high turnover in staff, unhappy workers in many areas, demanding customers where home deliveries had broken eggs, spoiled lettuce sent, cans crushed, etc. Labor costs rising, food safety is a concern and training is ongoing.

We now see that Grocers are weighing short-term / long strategies, such as sending employees through the aisles to pick online orders- errors-smashed, produce, against costly investments in large centralized distribution centers that use robotics to cut down on handling and other expenses.
