Some Thoughts on Meditating

Some Thoughts on Meditating

I was reading my email earlier and saw an article called Why Dogs Should Meditate on the Positively Positive Newsletter. I read a little of the article and it was interesting.

I thought I’d write about meditating in general. I started meditating when I trained with a friend in martial arts. It was a way to focus energy and control pain. When I got hurt in Alaska I took some yoga classes that involved meditating. That helped me fall asleep without taking very many pain pills.

I’m not a martial arts master or a guru, but meditating is something that works for me.

There are people who say they have visions or can feel waves of energy when they meditate. I’m not one of them. Well a couple times I had daydreams of my stalker ex-wife contacting me on Facebook and Linkedin.

Oh wait, That Really Happened!!

I’m just thankful that I can do something that works for my pain besides take a bunch of pills. It would suck to get hooked on meds!

There are volumes of books that are about meditating. There are tips on controlled breathing and different kinds of chanting. If you want to shave your head, dance around in a robe, and play a tambourine, Halloween is just around the corner.

Finding a place to relax and let my mind wander works the best for me.
