Prayers for the “Lone Star” state … you are not alone Texas

Praying for you Texas

Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton:

“Who indeed knows the secret of the earthly pilgrimage? Who knows for what we live, and struggle, and die? Who knows what keeps us living and struggling, while all things break about us? Who knows why the warm flesh of a child is such comfort, when one's own child is lost and cannot be recovered? Wise men write many books, in words too hard to understand. But this, the purpose of our lives, the end of all our struggle, is beyond all human wisdom.”  

Sometimes there are no right words … some things are “beyond all human wisdom”

Another time to “weep with those who weep” ~ Romans 12

Another time to pause & pray … this time for the hurting people in Odessa & Midland, TX (a mere few weeks ago it was El Paso & Dayton)

All evil is: “senseless, senseless” ~ Cormac McCarthy, The Road

"But God" 

I love these comforting words from Isaiah 49

This is what the Lord says...

"I will not forget you!

See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;

your walls are ever before Me."

We have been given this promise from heaven: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

God knows you … He is with you & for you. His greatest gift is that you can know Him.

God is Almighty, All-Seeing, All-Knowing, All-Powerful, All-Sufficient, Omnipotent & Omniscient

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you … to show you compassion” ~Isaiah 30:18

God knows you better than anyone: your parents or siblings … your best friend … your spouse … even better than you know yourself… In Psalm 139 this truth is beautifully written: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I am fearfully & wonderfully made. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. You have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out & my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.”

God loves you: continually & unconditionally. In His love letters to us … it is written: “I have summoned you by name, you are mine … you are precious & honored in My sight” ~ Isaiah 43:1,4-5

We have this assurance from God: “I am the Lord, your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you … do not be afraid … I myself will help you” ~ Isaiah 41:13-14

Jesus Christ has given His Word: “I will not leave you an orphan; I will come to you.” ~John 14

“I am with you always.” Jesus (Matthew 28)

What better time than now to “Draw to God” … with an earnest heart, in a quiet place … in child-like faith … just pour our your heart

No appointment is required God is available 24/7 … “he never sleeps or slumbers”

Our prayers are with you ... the strong & resilient hearts of Odessa, Midland … and El Paso will rise once again: “beauty from ashes”

@JimMurray I forgot this: … you said: “Sadly, this has nothing to do with God or religion” (religion is of man: it is religiosity … not true relationship with God) You are thinking in the physical realm and that is how you see the problem (of gun violence which is just one form of evil) I am thinking in the spiritual realm because that is where you will find the root cause of evil In truth: actually this has EVERYTHING to do with God /Hearts away from God are “dark hearts” and “darkened in understanding” … and thus knowingly or unknowingly cooperate with evil forces And You stated: “greed rules” … I could not agree more. Jim Murray (part 2) “Physical problems require physical cures and spiritual problems require spiritual cures” ~ fem-v The root & source of evil: is Satan … he is THE “evil one” … a murderer, the Accuser, the “Father of LIES” and the author of division, fear, confusion & chaos … Satan’s strategies are “radical” and he has an army to carry out his (spiritual) warfare Knowingly or unknowingly people cooperate with the “evil one” & become instruments of evil. Only God knows the human heart & motives for evil & destruction … the uncounted details of every “broken” human being whose wrong-thinking, wrong-focus, hardened heart & devastatingly bad decisions end in tragedy. Evil is its own motive ... there is no need to look further. Evil IS a spiritual force … and it is increasing (another point I was making in my post about evil when mentioning “birth pains”) By faith I believe that the Sovereign God is with us and for us and His plans will in the end prevail God is always present but often not apparent. I am assured that: “our days and times are in His able hands” Your comment about “un-doing and re-doing … and “free will” has been stirring my mind I will be responding but “wisdom is not hasty” and it is a universal & vital issue … worthy of careful thought

Jim Murray Jim ~ thank you for your honest & cut-to-the-chase responses ;~) You mention “political will” I mentioned “evil will “ The battle between good & evil is an ancient spiritual battle … there are many battle grounds in the realm of politics (and some in political power have been or presently are evil (history reveals) … and evil is carried out through human vessels (study the violence’s in countries around the world) … And guns are not always the weapons wielded by evil doers … one of the points I was trying to make here: “Where there is an evil will, there is an evil way” https://www.bebee.com/producer/@fay-vietmeier-pennsylvania/where-there-is-an-evil-will-there-is-an-evil-way Do not be deceived: hate, evil, violence, murder, fear, confusion, prejudices (racism) … these are spiritual problems ... that reside in the human heart. Evil cannot be regulated or legislated by ANY government. But as Earnest Hemingway said: “Isn’t it pretty to think so” (part1)

I have nothing against people who have faith and a strong belief in God. I had that myself for a while. But atheism and pragmatism are blood brothers. And the reality is that in the current state of affairs the US, there is zero political will to solve this crisis, none whatsoever, because greed rules. This can all change if the people actually get off their asses and vote to change the political will. Sadly, this has nothing to do with God or religion. It has to do with the easy availability of assault weapons, and the lack of treatment programs for those with mental illness.

An excerpt: I have been saying for many years that: Physical problems require physical cures Spiritual problems require spiritual cures The root cause of the changes & the decline in society’s & culture is spiritual Evil is a spiritual problem. The root & source of evil: is Satan … he is THE “evil one” … a murderer, the Accuser, the “Father of LIES” and the author of division, fear, confusion & chaos … Satan’s strategies are “radical” and he has an army to carry out his (spiritual) warfare Evil is its own motive ... there is no need to look further. Knowingly or unknowingly people cooperate with the “evil one” & become instruments of evil. @PaulWalters … you mentioned in Cry, The Beloved Country: “I began this piece saying perhaps callously that I wasn’t shocked, saddened yes, but not shocked” Not “callous” … rather perceptive Because of limit on words: I'll continue the thought in "Where there is an evil will, there is an evil way”

Back to the topic of “guns” and your comment.
