Perseverance Is an Essential Trait of Great Leadership
In order to be successful, the Leader must eliminate the belief that “success” is a destination. Success is a journey. A Leader will face many difficulties, obstacles, disagreements, disappointments, and even failures, along the way. He/she will reach a milestone and must always prepare to advance to the next one. A Leader must be ready to adapt to unexpected changes, take the difficult path and, above all, not give up in the face of adversity. Perseverance is not a Leadership cliché. Nor is it a cheesy motivational poster in the office. A great Leader exhibits steadfast perseverance to successfully lead others down the path to achieving desired goals and new accomplishments. A great Leader demonstrates perseverance by seeking to understand setbacks, unveiling root causes and finding solutions to fix them. It is by displaying his/her fortitude and willingness during difficult times that the Leader establishes his/her perseverance, and promotes it amongst his/her team. A Leader’s perseverance is ultimately influenced by his/her personal resilience and purposeful commitment to pursue and complete the mission regardless of the unexpected twists and turns on his/her journey. It, then, becomes a growing experience to achieve greater Leadership and achievements. Thoughts?
