Designed to inspire
Usually when I read the words designed to inspire it refers to a building or a style of dress. But how about words? There are a multitude of speeches with the designed to inspire to encourage to build up to simply grant one the courage to try again. If you were ever on a sports team you have heard good ones and I expect some not so good speeches. So what makes a speech inspirational?
What blend of words create a lifting of the spirit and place courage in the bones? What special crafting of language creates inspiration? Why do some word lift us up while others simply slide by on the wind? Is it a careful crafting of the language or does motivation carry a part? Is it words only, capable of being spoken by anyone with the proper inflection? Or is there something more?
Is inspiration more than just words with precise inflection, is there something human added? Perhaps some micro expression that tells us that what they say is real? Perhaps something more? Could an inspirational speech be written and still have the same effect? There are some examples of that, I think.
There are some amazing speeches that have moved people to do more than they believe they were capable of. Why did they work?
By now you might be asking, why are you asking, why do you care? The answer is simple we need a few inspirational speeches to help us stand above the ebb and flow of the current times. We need someone to stand up and say yes we can, and mean it. When every story is dark and every conversation is depressing, we need someone to stand up and inspire. But I believe Hitler and Stalin both were those men. So I guess we need to be very careful to whom we look for this inspiration. So I ask how is it accomplished? How do we know what we are hearing?
But while we wait for that someone how about we give it a try? Design you words to inspire. Seek to bring encouragement to those around you today. You never know who might need it more than you imagine.
As you look out upon your day may you see in it not the obstacles you need to overcome but instead the opportunities you have to demonstrate your amazing talents and gifts. Make this day a great day!
Blessings
