    FULL TIME VETERINARY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT – Saving Lives Spay & Neuter Clinic


    If you have a passion for helping animals and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment focused on high volume spay & neuter surgery, the Veterinary Technical Assistant at the Saving Lives Spay & Neuter Clinic may be the position for you

    Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday
    Pay: $ $19.00/hr

    Position Overview & Responsibilities
    As a Veterinary Technical Assistant you (and your teammates) are responsible for handling and monitoring our surgical patients from prep through recovery. Responsibilities include:

    • Prepping patients for surgery while maintaining sterility and safety
    • Assisting with movement of patients into and out of surgical suite, recovering patients after surgery, and maintaining efficient surgical flow
    • Monitoring patients under general anesthesia with a clear idea of normal and abnormal vital parameters/conditions
    • Drawing up vaccines; collecting blood samples; administering subcutaneous fluids
    • Assisting surgeon with exams and updating medical records
    • Cleaning and resetting kennels if needed
    • Assisting with check-in & discharge of public pets as needed

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma; completion of some college courses in Animal Science or Veterinary Technology (preferred)
    • NAVTA AVA certification (preferred)
    • One year of experience in a veterinary clinic, veterinary hospital and/or animal shelter working directly with animals
    • Knowledge of animal health, care, and welfare preferred; knowledge of or willingness to learn Fear Free animal handling techniques
    • Highly motivated, self-starter with a positive attitude and collaborative, team-oriented spirit
    • Must be comfortable standing for long periods of time and kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead and lifting up to 50 lbs.
