    Housed within Stanford Athletics, the development team is a part of the Office of Development (OOD) which advances Stanford's mission by raising philanthropic support from alumni, parents, families, friends, and institutional funders. Working in concert with volunteers and university leaders, OOD staff members strive to accelerate Stanford's purposeful impact in the world.     Position Summary

    The Associate Director, Events, is a member of DAPER Development's donor relations team, which is tasked with communicating appreciation for, and the impact of, gifts to Stanford Athletics; connecting donors with student-athletes and coaches through events on and off campus; and ensuring a sense of confidence and pride in philanthropically supporting Stanford. The Associate Director, Events is a full-time role that will own responsibility for DAPER Development's calendar of events.

    The Associate Director, Events, will lead event management and strategy for DAPER Development. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director, Donor Relations, they will view on campus, virtual, and cross-country events as part of an overarching donor relations strategy. Responsible for project managing events annually, ranging from small receptions to awards ceremonies to football tailgates, they will liaise with vendors and campus partners to curate all aspects of guests' experience. The successful candidate will understand how every event fosters critical connections with our donors, alumni, and supporters. An interest in Cardinal athletics is a bonus, as interacting with dedicated Cardinal fans and coaches is a central part of the role.

    In this role you will:

    ●Develop, manage, and implement an annual events strategy to support athletics fundraising that includes recurring, cyclical, and special events focused on engagement, cultivation, recognition, and stewardship.

    ●Produce high quality, engaging, creative experiences that are based on best practices for event management. Appropriately scope out project tasks/team assignments, create work plans and schedules, monitor progress, and meet milestones.

    ●Ensure a flawless event experience for all guests, speakers, and volunteers from start to finish. Oversee registration strategy and logistics. Recruit and prepare speakers, draft briefings and scripts, and assist with events collateral. Develop program metrics to measure attendee satisfaction.

    ●Be a good steward of financial and people resources. Work cross-departmentally to prepare and manage complex program budgets. Recommend and schedule events into appropriate off-campus and on-campus venues. Hire and oversee staff, students, production consultants, or contingent event staff, when applicable.

    ●Work collaboratively with internal and external university partners, including central development events staff, vendors, and athletics donor hosts and volunteers. Act as department representative at cross-departmental project meetings.

    ●Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and supporting an inclusive, accessible, diverse and equitable university for all our community members.

    ●May perform other duties as assigned.

    To be successful in this role, you will bring:

    ●Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    ●Superior project and event management skills

    ●Proficiency with data and financial systems, including experience gathering, organizing, and analyzing data, and communicating/presenting results and recommendations in a succinct fashion to key stakeholders.

    ●Ability to manage a diverse team of staff and contingent labor, holding them to deadlines and the highest quality output.

    ●Demonstrated experience with financial management of complex event budgets requiring excellent analytical skills.

    ●Extreme attention to detail and deadlines; ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows.

    ●Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented.

    ●Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.

    ●Demonstrated high level of confidence in making strategic decisions, good judgment, and innovative and creative problem solving skills.

    The expected pay range for this position is $76,000 – $117,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

    ●Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, and use a telephone, stand/walk.

    ●Occasionally kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21-40 pounds.

    ●Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class drivers license

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    ●May require some travel and working evenings and weekends.

    ●Expected to attend all home football games.

    ●When conducting university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.
