- Leads, instructs, and encourages patients in a diverse range of activities including indoor and outdoor games, sports, dance, parties, dramatics, and special interest clubs.
- Supervises entertainments and movies, assists in planning programs for special occasions, and collaborates with the therapeutic team to set treatment goals for individual patients.
- Coordinates recreation therapy with other therapeutic programs, oversees activities program, and provides basic activity skills instruction to unit personnel.
- Observes patients' progress and reactions, records clinical notes, and prepares reports.
- Manages supplies, equipment, facilities, and ensures the security and order within the working areas.
- Conducts inspections, searches inmates for contraband, and prevents escapes or harm to individuals and property.
