    Description

    A leading medical center is seeking a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Per Diem II) for its Psychiatric Pods to work on both weekend and weekday nights. Additional 17% weekday night and 26% weekend nights shift differential will be added to the salary. Cell phones and/or smart devices are prohibited for this position unless there is a medical condition. The position requires a minimum of four shifts per schedule including two weekend shifts and one holiday in summer and winter. The successful candidate will work independently to provide direct patient care, offer a positive work environment and quality patient care while fully adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as mandated
    • Comply with Hospitals, Nursing Division, and departmental policies
    • Help in creating individualized care plans for patients with age-specific considerations along with discharge planning and patient/family teaching
    • Assist with specific tests and procedures and ensure the proper consent has been obtained
    • Assist new personnel with orientation, precepting, and evaluation
    • Institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
    • Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
    • Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
    • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights and document clinical findings
    • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families according to Hospital standards
    • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops
    • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols and seek opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
    • Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
    • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses in a timely manner
    • Encourage patients to actively participate in their care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they do not understand or may 'not seem right'
    • Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable

    Requirements:

    • Program graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program, Bachelors preferred
    • Minimum of one year related experience
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish/Keres/Tewa/Tiwa/Towa/Zuni/Navajo preferred
    • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
    • Current RN license in NM, or from reciprocating states
    • Nationally Certified in area of specialty, PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC non-essential
    • Must be capable of performing Heavy Work such as exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
    • Prior experience in neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient care assignment preferred.
    • Must be comfortable working in an environment with Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE
